The Steel Ball Torque Limiter features an automatic disengagement design: steel balls detach from the clamping grooves instantly in case of equipment overload to cut off power transmission, effectively preventing equipment stalling, gear tooth breakage and damage to core components.


Compared with friction-type torque limiters, it delivers several times faster response speed, providing more reliable protection for high-speed precision operation and heavy-load impact working conditions.

Overload Protection Principle

In case of overload the ratchet parts balls leave their indentations, and a relative motion between the driving and driven side is produced. In this way damages due to overload are avoided. The shift ring makes an axial motion to the shifting way "S" and activates the limit switch or proximity initiator. The signal can be used for control functions or for disconnection of the drive. For the restart we would recommend to electrically bypass the limit switch or proximity initiator for a short time.


Once the overload condition is resolved, the steel balls rotate within their cage—turning through a specific angle—and automatically reseat themselves into the next set of detents; consequently, the driving and driven components resume normal rotation after having rotated relative to one another through that same angle.
